As darkness falls in our city, I see fireflies or "lightning" bugs flying around. I have not seen them for many years.(I live in the city.) I guess that is why I was surprised to see them this year. When we were children in Mississippi, my brother and I took jars with holes punched in the top with an ice pick and captured the yellow glowing bugs. We put grass in the jars for food, but the tiny bugs never...

Our God, Our Contentment

Posted Jul 1st 2005, 10:37 by The Morning Word Ministry on Inspiration

. Hebrews 13:5-6
'Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
. Today's Suggested Reading - Hebrews Chapter 13
Perhaps one of the most misunderstood words of the twenty-first century is contentment. Settling for less, living beneath...

Summarizing this week's theme: There is a big difference between expressing one's emotion and operating out of one's emotion

Posted Jul 1st 2005, 10:24 by A Ray of Light® Daily on Worship

Focal Verse (s): 1 Corinthians 2:4-6 (The Message)
4 and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God's Spirit and God's power did it, 5 which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God's power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.

We practice clear, concise communication by expressing His spirit and power, not by expressions of emotional displays,...

THE NICODEMUS PROJECT, GUATEMALA CITY
July 20035
"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body (2 Corinthians 4:8-10)." Paul knew what it was like to face all manner of trial and come out victorious. He, along with other writers, had much to say about how...

An Incredible Speech

Posted Jul 1st 2005, 10:00 by Bill’s Musings on Teaching/Education

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The following is the valedictorian speech by Lindy Morrison of Calvary Chapel High School. When I heard it, I marveled at the wisdom and spiritual insights God had given this young woman. It blessed me and those who were in attendance at the graduation ceremony in early June.
I pray that the Lord will use it to bless and encourage you all as well. The truths contained therein are potent and vital for our walks with Christ.
In Christ,
Bill...
