Dutch Sheets Statement Regarding Lakeland

Posted Aug 23rd 2008, 11:34 by Next Reformation News on General Interest

Dear nRn Subscribers,

We at nRn have very intentionally shared very few of the
stories from Lakeland, FL and Todd Bentley over the last many months.  We
would, however, like to bring to your attention a posting by Dutch Sheets
regarding Lakeland.  In his posting, Dutch makes some important statements
about the charismatic community.

If you are weary of the coverage and discussion, then by all
means, just delete this email.  Otherwise, you may wish to go to www.dutchsheets.org and read what Dutch
has to say to...

What should be the response of the church?

Posted Aug 15th 2008, 02:20 by Next Reformation News on General Interest

Much shock is being expressed on Christian forums by those who
have known Todd Bentley or who have attended his meetings, or who at least are aware
of his ministry. I think that much of the initial response regarding the
disclosure of his marital difficulties has been framed by the shock we have
experienced in learning of the apparent failures of the Bentley marriage.

There are numerous categories of concern regarding the entire
issue with Todd; his character, his personal life, and his ministry, and
understanding...

Revival Realities

Posted Aug 14th 2008, 12:19 by Next Reformation News on General Interest

There
is so much noise and activity coming out of Lakeland, Florida this Spring, that
it would be hard to find a part of the earth that has not heard about what is
being called the outpouring.  There is much excitement about the prospect
of revival breaking out that will flood the United States and the earth with
God's glory. I pray that's what will happen. But for a moment, please suffer me
a brief stroll backwards in time.

I promise not to ramble, and there...

Todd Bentley, Wife Separating

Posted Aug 13th 2008, 11:54 by Next Reformation News on General Interest

The leader of
the 'Lakeland Outpouring' is leaving Florida and will reportedly receive
counseling.

[08.12.08]
In a stunning revelation by his ministry today it was announced that evangelist
Todd Bentley, who has led nonstop revival meetings in Lakeland, Fla., since
April 2, is separating from his wife, Shonnah, due to “significant
friction in their relationship.”

The
board of directors at Bentley’s Fresh Fire Ministries released a
statement Tuesday afternoon that praised the “outpouring” in
Lakeland led by Bentley, but also acknowledged “an atmosphere of fatigue
and stress” that more than 100...

Todd Bentley

An open letter from Bill
Johnson about Todd Bentley.
Church history is loaded
with successes and failures. For some reason this is especially true with the
activity of revival. In time, all revivalists become heroes of the Church. But
they are not always valued in their day by their peers. My grandfather once
told me, "Not everyone liked Wigglesworth." We love Wigglesworth
today, but mostly because he is dead. We encounter his offensive ways in books,
not in the same meeting we're attending. And when the Church...

As
we enter into this next era with God, the Kingdom Age, we will begin to notice
many new characteristics of God’s people. In fact, the greatest
characteristic will be ‘the character’ of the men and women leading
this new era (Kingdom Age). You will know them by their fruit. First and
foremost, Kingdom Age leaders will have their own money bag; they will be self
sufficient and will never fleece the sheep with money generating tactics. They
will abhor terms like...

FLORIDA FIRE HITS AUSTRALIA
Missing parts of people's bodies replaced by God's power. Metal
implants reported disappearing; incurable illnesses being healed; congenital
defects corrected by God's power ... it seems like every healing imaginable is
now taking place, even long distance healings. People are using their mobile
phones, and as Bob Brasset prays, people are healed long distance.
Salvations, deliverances, mental illness - nothing seems too hard for
God.

He touched me,
oh He touched me
And oh the joy

Something

He touched me

"Suddenly I
felt a strange electric-like tingling running through my body."
These were the
words of Cobden resident, Mary Pettigrew, over 40 years ago, as she reflected
on the moment when she lay on the floor of the lobby of Carnegie Hall in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

They Love Jesus; They Don't Like Church

Posted Feb 27th 2008, 12:00 by Next Reformation News on General Interest

They Love Jesus; They Don't Like the Church
Michael Craven
This appears to be a growing sentiment among many younger Christians in America today. They love Jesus but they want little to do with His Church. It’s not that they don’t like the their local church or even other Christians—it’s that they don’t like how Christianity in America is frequently represented by many professing Evangelicals, which in their minds is often unloving, judgmental, arrogant, and hypocritical.
This assertion...

The
Golden Compass is the first book in a controversial but wildly popular British
trilogy by Philip Pullman. And it's now a blockbuster holiday kids' movie. What
parents don't know is that the books are about children on a quest to save the
world from an oppressive and senile God named Yaweh (which is God's name in the
Hebrew Bible), and from the deception and...
