A couple of weeks ago in a meeting where I was speaking we sang an old time hymn called “Learning to Lean”. After singing this hymn, I could not stop thinking about the lyrics and what they meant.
“I’m learning to lean on Jesus!”….”finding more power than I’d ever dreamed…I’m learning to lean on Jesus.”
I was thinking about American culture which promotes rugged individualism, pride in being self sufficient; honors those with ability to multi task, is into “super-moms” and...

THE FLAVOR OF GRACE

THE FLAVOR OF GRACE
By Sondra Stallman

The dinner was being prepared for the celebration of Resurrection Sunday. Everything was there on the table; the glazed ham smelled divine; there was chocolate candy and many goodies amongst which was a basket of hot cross buns.
I thought of the history of this food; the little bun with the white iced crosses on top; that traditionally it is served on Good Friday to mark the day of the cross of Christ.
I thought about the...

The False God of Fear

Posted Feb 9th 2016, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

THE FALSE GOD OF FEAR
“God has not given you the spirit of fear but of love and of power and of a sound mind.”
II Timothy 1:7
This morning I heard the Lord speaking to me about an issue that has sweeping repercussions in the body of Christ. It is the issue of a false god and the name of it is “fear.”
Fear is “an unpleasant strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.” (Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary)
Panic is defined as the...

If God Be F.O.R. Us

Posted Jan 18th 2016, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

If God Be F.O.R. Us
It’s a brand new year. Yet already trouble is brewing in the world around us; not only in the world but even in families that have been shaken with tragedy in our communities.
We, as followers of Christ, must guard against the propensity to grow weary; to let things slide; to become complacent. For many, thoughts of yesterday and longings for what is not available can stop the flow of energy for the here and now.
How...

ABIDING OVERWHELMED

Posted Oct 19th 2015, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

ABIDING OVERWHELMED
For the past several weeks God has been speaking to me out of Psalms 61 and Psalms 62.  The key word He has been dealing with here is the word “overwhelmed.”
David the Psalmist speaks of the fact in Psalms 61 that he is “overwhelmed.” He is crying out to God “when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (vs. 2)
In my last writing that I posted I wrote about the “stirring of...

THE STIRRING OF EXPECTATION

THE STIRRING OF EXPECTATION
PS. 62:5 "My soul wait silently for God alone for my expectation is from Him."
_____________________________________________________________
In Spurgeon's "Treasury of David" he speaks of Ps. 62 as a message of continuing perseverance. He tells us that once we have exercised the virtue of waiting silently for God to move within a situation we must "bind ourselves to the continuance of it" because the soul itself is apt to be "dragged away from its anchor." He speaks of the temptations...

LOVE IN ACTION..... FOR REAL

LOVE IN ACTION
FOR REAL
I received a letter from a prison inmate last week in which the inmate whose name was Michael wrote about his deep concern for those labeling themselves “Christians.”
Michael repented of his sin and the crimes he committed and received Christ as his Lord and Savior. He has two more years to serve in prison and writes about the difficulty of serving the Lord in such a dark place.
He said that when you enter prison, they give you...

A TIME FOR UNDERSTANDING

Posted Jun 1st 2015, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (whole verse Hosea 4:6)
A TIME FOR UNDERSTANDING
What do you as a Christian believer say to a woman involved in a sexual affair with a man when she asks: “Will I go to hell for what I am doing here?”Do you have the answer to her question?
What actually does God Himself say about this issue:Here is God’s truth.
We are called to speak God’s truth in love.If we truly love someone, if we...

ROCK OR ROLLING STONE?

 ROCK OR ROLLING STONE?
We see in Psalms 71:2-13 that David has made a prayer to the Lord and he asks:
“Incline Your ear to me; deliver me speedily, be my strong Rock, a strong fortress to save me, For you are my rock and my fortress, for Your name’s sake lead me and guide me….for You are my strength…”
The “rock” David describes means that the Lord is our solid foundation upon which we can stand for support, our divine refreshment, our...

CROSS BEAMS: GOD'S PERFECT BALANCE

Posted Mar 25th 2015, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

Psalms 85:10
“Mercy and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed.”
God loves balance. He said “Let everything be done decently and in order.” (I Cor. 14:40)
A.W. Tozer in his book “The Attributes of God” speaks of the fact that one reason the human heart feels such remoteness from God is because of the natural “dissimilarity” between God and man. (p.144,’The Attributes of God’)
We humans love the mercy of God yet sometimes struggle with God’s truth and righteousness.
However, God made...

TRIP THE TRAP!

Posted Feb 2nd 2015, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

He sat before the people; stone faced, silent, without flinching.
One by one they came. They took the stand.
This was part of his punishment.
They mocked him. They verbally spat in his face. They cursed him to hell.
After all, this was Gary Ridgeway, the notorious "Green River" serial killer who had confessed to the murders of  48 women, yet was accused of killing even more.
The women were mothers, sisters, wives.
He had come to an agreement with the officials when he confessed to...

HUMILITY VS. HUMILIATION

Posted Oct 24th 2014, 12:00 by Sondra Stallman on Prophetic

To be “humble” is a condition of the heart. It means that your heart has become meek, mild and made itself lowly before God and others.
To be humble is quite different than to be “humiliated.”
To become humble is about brokenness before God.
Humility is a characteristic of Christ who was obedient in every way to His Father, even to the death on the cross of Calvary. Jesus humbled Himself and obeyed His Father. Scripture says he never did anything unless...

SHOW ME YOUR GLORY

 “Show Me Your Glory”
When we think of wisdom in the scripture we often think of the book of Proverbs or of King Solomon who was the principle contributor to the book of Proverbs.
We remember scripture like:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”; (Proverbs 9:10)
And
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.” (Proverbs 4:7)
God’s word says that if we exalt wisdom; it will bring promotion, it will bring honor and will be a crown of glory upon our heads. (Prov. 4:8-9)
In Matthew...
