I’m sure that title got your attention! After all, if you’ve been around the church for very long, surely you have sung that old hymn. It’s a special one to me because I’m told that my Dad was singing that one when he went to be with the Lord a few months ago.
Over the last couple of years, the Lord has been leading me to some new places as well. Most significantly, He has been leading me...

Earlier this summer, we had the privilege of hosting the first ever Seven Words of Worship Conference at Victory Worship Center (www.vwcaz.org) in Tucson, Arizona.
From those who attended, the verdict is in: the Lord used my friend and co-author, Mike Harland, to deliver five life-changing messages on worship!

Experiencing God In Worship
Posted Mar 22nd 2009, 01:21 by Music and the Word Ministries on Worship
“Get up and write.” I looked at the clock and considered the darkness and cold of a February morning in Tennessee. I argued with God, “Surely this can’t be You. Are you sure?”
You may be familiar with the wonderful resource called “Experiencing God.” I know that book has changed many lives, including mine. Do you remember the Seven Realities of Experiencing God? I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was right...
Love, Hope, and Faith

Love, Hope, and Faith
My friend, Tom, lost one of his long-term friends this week—to suicide. It hit Tom very hard. I guess suicide only makes sense to the one taking his own life. Sometimes even good people are deceived into thinking there is just no other way out of their problems.
As I struggled with some explanation that might help Tom understand how such a thing could happen, I was led to Romans 5:5:
Hope never disappoints. For...

The Broom
I got up a little before 6 AM a couple of days ago. Seems like that is the best time for me to hear from the Lord. I love to make a pot of green tea (actually Sue makes me drink green tea), sit in the mostly darkened room and listen for His voice while waiting for the daylight to penetrate my surroundings.
I know His voice because I know Him. It's sure not because of my...

WHAT'S IN THE MANGER?
Christmas is such a great season, and undoubtedly the busiest season of your year. I know the countless hours you invest in special music, Christmas spectaculars, and the other unusual needs you encounter this time of the year as you minister to those God has given you.
I'm sure there are moments when you wonder why you're working so hard, and that's ok. We all need a reminder of WHY we do WHAT we...

THE MELODY IN YOUR HEART
Do you ever find yourself waking up singing a song? I do, from time to time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Usually it is a song of praise

SEASON OF CHANGE
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about changes around me. Maybe it's because I turned 55 last month or possibly it has something to do with the coming of Fall. I just know that change is on the way, and I like change
