"BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD…” Ps 46:10
Last week the life of Job dominated my mind. I explained the whole book to our visitor friends. I do think that four distinctiveness found in the life of Job towards the end of all disasters ought to be the example in our day today living.
KEEP SILENCE – In Job 40:4, we read Job saying, “I lay my hand over my mouth.” It is always good to be still sometime before God each day. Silence brings the babbling to the end. Job leveled 74 specific charges against God in all his discourses. There is always sin in the multitude of words. There is strength in being calm. “in quietness and trust is your strength” Isa 30:15
KEEP KNOWING – In 42:2 we read, “I know that You can do everything. And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.” Keep knowing the purposes of God in our lives is a great knowledge. God will give us power only to carry out His purposes in our lives. “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God…” Ps 143:10
KEEP SEEING – In 42:5 Job said, “Now my eye sees you…” We hear so much about God but when we see Him face to face His greatness and inscrutableness will be known to us. Our personal concept of God is vital in our spiritual growth. God did ask 184 questions to Job to make him realize His immensity.
KEEP REPENTING – In 42:6 Job said, “ I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes” When we behold the greatness of God we do realize how small, weak, vulnerable and carnal we are. Thus repentance is to be exercised every time we go to God.
PRAYER – Dear Lord, help me to draw closer with you every day. Amen
