"Liberty In Christ"
by The Sojourner
(NIV) James 1:25
(KJV) James 1:25
There are many parts to
liberty but for our purposes, this from the Apostle James
will do. James said in the Scripture:
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and
continues in it , and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer
of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
You see the perfect law of liberty freed us from
consequences of the law of sin and death through Christ.
This is known as grace which is provided by Jesus Christ's
work on the cross. His work--not our work! When Believers do
what is right it is not to earn salvation, but it is a thank
offering for salvation. The good news is we are saved and
blessed here and now as well as there and then.
You see Believers are the righteousness of God in Christ
Jesus. Paul said in
and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness
derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness
that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness – a righteousness
from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness.
Peter Marshall, said before the U.S. Senate:
"Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life;
hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free.
Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be
lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in
books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our
liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the
opportunity to please to do what is right."
We need to always focus on Christ!
The blessings of
our Lord on you and all that is yours by blood, adoption or assignment!
