Jacob's Ladder 11-01-07

And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! (Gen 28:12) AMP, And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. (Gen 28:12) KJV

This is also the picture of "The Way". The church since Pentecost has learned this truth.

By climbing higher you become lower. "For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted". (Luk 14:11)

By becoming lower you become greater, "He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree". (Luk 1:52)

This is diametrically opposed opposed to the world's standards. You become greater by obtaining wealth, status and power.

Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. (1Sa 15:22) As our humility and willingness increases, God is able to take us higher up the ladder.

The ladder rungs can be slippery. We may slip and fall back several rungs. We did not incorporate the instructions and teaching into our lives and especially into our hearts. Before we progress any further, the same situation will again present itself. Maybe a different situation, but the same matter of the heart to what God is trying to say to us personally. "THEREFORE LET us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity". "But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance". (Mat 9:13)

YES, we too are the sinners called to repentance. Our feet on the ladder may slip further down if we do not. "[Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God". (Heb 3:12) "Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God", (Heb 6:1)

When we reach the top of the ladder ascending into heaven, we have become the lowest. We are learning Kingdom principles. If God deems it so, we have become mature enough to descend down the ladder.

We are now servants of the living God. Vessels he sends back to the earth to do His will among the living of the earth, in whatever capacity according to His good purpose. "We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose". (Rom 8:28)

The joy and peace we will experience as when as Jesus testified, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven". (Mat 6:10)
