Dear friends:
The past few days I have seen 3-4 posts or e-mails extolling the virtues
of vitamin D3. I am thinking that God must be speaking to me about
it. Below are three excerpts for your information.
D3 is extremely inexpensive, as low as $7.13 for 200, 2,000mg capsules at
the Vitamin Shoppe, at

From "Walter":
My wife has suffered from psoriasis most of her adult life. It has
been so disfiguring to her skin that she keeps herself covered most of
the time. Right now she is 99% free of the problem. I do not know for
sure why. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is the fact
that both of us have been taking 3 to 6 thousand IU of vitamin D3 on a
daily basis and have been since last fall.
From "Eric":
I Googled 'Vitamin D3' and found this on Wikipedia. You might
want to look into this toxicity issue further because you don't want to
take too much of certain vitamins.
"The upper limit (UL) for vitamin D has been recommended as 2,000 IU
daily, due to toxicities that can occur when taken in higher doses. Daily
doses greater than 2,000 IU should only be taken at the recommendation of
your doctor. A 25(OH)D blood test can be taken to identify if your
current intake is sufficient."
I found this on e-how.com regarding vitamin D3 and psoriasis.
Skin Conditions
According to a study published in Volume 64, Issue 5, "The Indian
Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology," Vitamin D3
helped with
skin conditions because of its anti-inflammatory properties. In the
study, the vitamin was given to patients with psoriasis. Within 1 month,
the condition disappeared. It was then given to patients with lichen
planus lesions. Vitamin D3 relieved skin itching and regressed the
lesions by half. The researchers then gave Vitamin D3 to those with
photodermatitis. The lesions from the disorder disappeared within a
month.
From M. H. MacDonald (a doctor's wife)
D3 is THE most important anti-cancer vitamin we can
produce/ingest, but we need at least 8,000 to 10,000 iu's
DAILY. 2,000 is too low for effective immune system
protection. You can search some of the 'cutting edge' sites to
verify. Groups of scientists and MD's have also studied this
in depth and in recent testing of Americans, we have been found to be
dangerously low in Vitamin D3, deemed vital in the warding off of not
only cancer, but flu and other viruses. The MD group, after years
of study have declared that Vitamin D3 is the single most effective
anticancer nutrient. Taking too low a dosage
would be a grave mistake, especially if you live in the north and/or are
a senior. We up here cannot get enough sun strength to make much at
all in our bodies.
