PRAISE AND POWER                             Walking in Trust                             April 27, 2018

How much do we really trust God? Do we trust Him in the small as well as the big challenges in our lives? Even when tragic events occur whether in our lives or reported on TV and in the newspapers; we can have inner peace because we trust God. He wants to care for us day by day, all day long, just as an earthly father wants to care for his children.

Often we try to plan way ahead, just in case this thing or that thing MIGHT happen. "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." (Psalm 37:5) God wants us to trust Him and walk with Him one day at a time. ”Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.” (Philippians 3:1a) Instead of filling our minds with fears, we are admonished to rejoice in the Lord.

We keep our heads in God's Word, not in the negatives of the world. Philippians 3 encourages all the saints in Christ [us] to know Him and the power of His resurrection -- the power that comes with Christ in you.

Sometimes fear is a carry-over from past experiences: "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, ..." (Philippians 3:13) We are to forget the past and reach forth. "In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil." (Psalm 56:4, 5) We praise God and put our trust in Him.

In Philippians 4 we are told to stand fast in the Lord. We stay put with God and His Word. Again we are encouraged to rejoice in the Lord and to not be anxious. When we remember that God is our strength, and we stand fast in the Lord, our fears fade away.

"Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6) We talk with God when we have a need. He is faithful and dependable. He is worthy of our trust. People may let us down, but God is steadfast and unchanging. It takes believing to trust. We need to be convinced that God's Word is truth. Then we can claim His promises and get rid of fear. When we apply the principles of God's Word, we'll be taken care of. "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19) Let's expect God's best and walk in the quietness, rest and peace that comes when we trust Him.
