RIVER REVELATIONS:

What Is Going On?

“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and honesty cannot enter.             Isaiah 59:14

Recent events in our nation have a lot of us shaking our heads and wondering what ever happened to justice.  Blatant misrepresentations, distorted memories, and just plain lies are flying out over the air waves.  Most people don’t know what to believe.  Some people believe what they want to believe.  It is a political trick, and it is destroying the reputations of two seemingly good people.

Our Constitution reads that we are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Why can’t we let this just play out and not try to condemn a person because of public opinion.  He’s a man so he must be guilty, she’s a woman who waited a long time to accuse her attacker, so she must be lying.  This is dreadful, and watching the lives of these two people literally being destroyed in front of us has made me sick.

We should all be sick over this, because if it can happen to them, it can happen to us.  No one is safe, if you believe differently than someone else, all they have to do is say you did something thirty years ago, and it’s over for you and your reputation.

This is like the woman caught in the act of adultery, there was no question of her guilt, I mean she was caught right in the act.  Yet, Jesus reached out and covered her sin. He didn’t raise His voice and shout out all the charges against her, no, He knelt down and wrote something in the sand.  I believe He was writing down the sins of her accusers.  When it came time for each man to bring their stone to throw at her, they were reminded of their own sin, and dropped the stone and walked away.  It’s easy to forget our transgressions when we are busy pointing out the sins of others.

John 8:7 When they kept on questing Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you cast the first stone at her.

How many accusers feel justified in letting everyone know the sin of others; yet live sinful, lascivious lifestyles and think no one will ever know.  But God, He will reveal it if they do not repent and continue to live in a manner that does not please Him. I think this applies to both believes and non-believers.

Numbers 32:23 “But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.”

We as a nation seem to have lost our moral compass.  Instead of wanting to bring people out of their dilemmas, we want to crucify, destroy and ruin.  What next tarring and feathering the accused?  Lynching?  Riding them out of town on a rail?  Is their no limit to our hatred for someone from a different political opinion or perspective?

Are we in the church going to stand up for truth, justice and the American way.  Or are we going to be skeptical and say something like, “Well where there’s smoke there’s fire.”  NO!  We must pray for truth to rise up and bring back some civility to our nation again.  Stop politicizing everything.  God is not in your party or my party.  His is the only party.  His platform is compassion, love and forgiveness.  Something every party should stand on.

1 Peter 4:8 “above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
