Treasures From the Heart:
Thanks, isn’t what we give, it is what we are. Being thankful isn’t a suggestion it is a command.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
A heart of gratitude pleases Papa; He loves to hear our thanks and our praise for all He has done. “With Thanksgiving” our prayers and request require thanks; thanks for the things He’s kept us from.
A while ago we were going out to dinner, we stopped to pick up our friends, when they got into the car we saw lots of birds at their bird feeder. We paused and watched them amazed at the number and variety of birds, and then we got under way. As we got closer to the restaurant, we saw that there had been an accident. If we had not taken the five minutes or so to enjoy God’s creations at the bird feeder we may have been in that wreck. We immediately gave thanks to the Lord for keeping us safe.
How often do we get angry for delays, last minute phone calls, flat tires, and dead batteries, yet they may be God’s way of keeping us out of harm’s way? What a loving caring God we have that orders our steps and protects us.
A heart of gratitude pleases Papa also when we acknowledge His presence and power in the troubled times in our lives. I think about the times we’ve been at the doctor and received a bad report. When we thank Him in our circumstances it brings a peace and assurance that He sees and hears our needs, and He will work on our behalf. We can rest in knowing that God is the healer, He may use medicine, treatments, or miracles, but He is in all things that concern us. We can give thanks even in the trials of life.
Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Where ever you are, what ever your circumstances are today, right now Give Thanks!
When we begin to speak out loud our thankfulness and praises to Him, we feel His presence, He abides in our praise. We need to constantly remind ourselves of where we’ve been, and what He has brought us through, and praise and thank Him over and over again. There is nothing that pleases Him more than an attitude of gratitude. It is not about what we need, or want, it is about giving thanks for what we have. If we are honest most of us don’t need one more thing, we need to thank Him for what we have and for Who He is.
Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
