God’s Word is full of faith. When we understand how His Word works it becomes effortless to comprehend the virgin birth. The Word of God can be delivered to us from many different platforms. The most common platform of receiving the Word of God is when we read, study and meditate on the Bible. But the Word may also come through a prophetic utterance, a visitation from Jesus in a vision, or a divinely granted angelic encounter. Regardless of the method of delivery, when the Word is received in faith it triggers a conception within the human spirit. The angel Gabriel brought Mary the most extraordinary message. Her response set an example of faith and obedience that we still admire and emulate today.
And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:35-36, 37-38)
Mary basically responded by saying, “Look, I’m a servant of the Lord and I agree with what you’re saying; let it happen to me just as you’ve said.” By the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was placed into the virgin womb of Mary in the seed form of a human embryo. We know from biology that a woman does not have a seed; only the man carries the seed. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and miraculously placed the seed of Jesus into her womb. At that exact moment conception took place and nine months later Jesus was born.
In the ageless realm of eternity past, the Son of God was always known as the Word. When He was born into the world He was given the name Jesus. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. God was walking on the earth in a human body. Mary had received the Word (the message from Gabriel) first in her spirit. Because of this she then conceived by the Spirit and manifested the Word in her body. Faith is the ability to conceive and manifest what God has spoken to you.
I’m fully convinced that any believer who will receive the Word of God regarding any specific promise that is contained within the New Testament package of blessings and benefits, can have it if they conceive it in their womb like Mary did. The spiritual womb where the conception of God’s promise takes place is within your heart, which is your human spirit. The process of moving from conception to manifestation did not happen overnight for Mary; it took time. Just as the Word of God grew inside the womb of Mary, the Word (God’s promise) can grow in you. As it does, your faith becomes stronger and stronger until eventually there is delivery, which is the full manifestation of the promise.
How did the Word become flesh? It all started with an angel bringing a message (a word, a promise) from God. This is why it is vital to receive God’s Word concerning any dream or desire you may have. Without a word from God there is no seed, and without a seed there will never be conception. This Christmas, may you receive the greatest gift that any believer could ever receive – a word from God!
