~A Chance To Die (Taking Offense)~

Posted Aug 11th 2004, 10:28 by More of Him on Christian Living

I often have times that people may disagree with my thoughts, beliefs and words. They may rebuke me or be unkind for whatever reason. When I know I am right (or at least think I am right) my flesh wants to take offense. My flesh flares up and wants to defend myself. Even when you know you are being used by the Lord, it is easy to say that you are defending the Lord or truth. But He is capable...

~You're As Close To God As You Want To Be~

Posted Aug 6th 2004, 11:24 by More of Him on Christian Living

This is actually the second half of the article titled "Four Circles of Intimacy-(you're as close to God as You want to be)" by J. oswald Sanders.
I identify with this so much. I think that intimacy proceeds holiness. As I have sought after Jesus, to be near Him, to love Him, to know Him, to know His heart and thoughts-- this has resulted in my thirst for holiness because I want to please Him. Seeking after holiness before seeking "Him"...

~God Used A Doctor to Speak To Me~

As you all probably know, I have been through quite an ordeal recently with melanoma. What I learned during this time was how deadly melanoma can be and how it can spread through the blood to your lymph nodes if not caught in time. During this time, I also developed a terrible pain in my jaw and ear area that would go from one side to the other. It was so painful that I would have to lay down...

~Thank You For Your Prayers!~

Posted Jul 22nd 2004, 04:37 by More of Him on Christian Living

I want to let everyone who has held me up in their prayers, that after removing a bigger area on my lower back, the tests have come back that this surrounding area is cancer-free! Praise the Lord!!!!!! I can't tell you what I have been through emotionally, spiritually and physically in the last few weeks. Unfortunately, after learning how deadly that melanoma can be, I had a major breakdown last Thursday caused by emotional stress that I am still feeling...

~Graciously Asking For Prayer~

Posted Jul 7th 2004, 12:41 by More of Him on Christian Living

Hi everyone! I have not wanted to bring this subject up yet until I knew further details. Last week I had a suspicious lesion/mole removed from my back and tested for melanoma. I have known about this for a few weeks and the Lord has sustained me and my family. The "what if's" are the hardest- but I am still learning to trust Him.
The results have come back positive for melanoma (skin cancer). Luckily he got deep enough to...

~The Danger of Spiritual Ambition~

Posted Jun 29th 2004, 10:31 by More of Him on Christian Living

This is kind of a follow up to my last post -"He Alone Is Life". There are just so many teachings out there, so many books and messages. I was guilty of focusing on too many other good "things", rather than on Christ Himself. My main source needs to be Him. Even if I never read another book or listened to another message - He would be more than enough. I am ashamed to say that He has not...

~He Alone Is LIFE~

I have spent some much needed time with the Lord, agonizing over my own deadness, begging Him to turn His eyes toward me, to give me His ear. I hope someone is blessed by what He spoke to my heart.
LIFE cannot be found in a building. A building can have good things in it. But it is not LIFE.
LIFE cannot be found in a book. A book can have good things in it. But it is not LIFE.
LIFE cannot...

Power of Words- An Index of Our Souls
"The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but gracious words are pure." Pro. 15:26
St. Frances de Sales said, "Our words are a faithful index of the state of our souls." During this study we have examined the words of our mouths and recognized a correlation between what we say and our hearts. Today, let's examine ourselves- to take an index of our souls.
Below, you will find a list of...

~Power of Words Pt.3~

A Guarded Tongue
"Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips." Ps.141:3
The presence of a guard indicates the possibility of danger. We don't guard something that doesn't need to be protected.
Notice where this guard is posted. Not at the ear--to protect us from being hurt by words we might hear, or at the heart--to shield us from the wounds that are sometimes caused by what others do. Rather, the Psalmist asked God to...

The Power To Heal
"Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Pro. 16:24
Sit back, my friend, and close your eyes. Recall a time when someone said words that really encouraged you. Perhaps it was your mom or dad who said, "I believe in you!" Or maybe a good friend uttered those needed words of affirmation, "Don't give up! You can do it!" or possibly a teacher's words were all you needed when she...

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Mt.12:37
I was was so riveted by this verse a few months ago that I knew I had to study more about the power of the words I use. This is a summarized version of Nancy DeMoss's 4-week devotional sudy called The Power of Words. Enjoy!
The Power and Impact of Words

I read this yesterday by a Brian Johnson. (I hope he doesn't mind me posting it here :) Thank you Brian, wherever you are!
One night I was seeking God. I drive trucks, and was halfway between Melbourne and Sydney. I really love those long trips in the truck. I get a chance to be on my own with the Lord for many hours while driving. I listen to tapes, pray and sing to Him, or just fellowship and enjoy being...

~Why I Hate Hypocrisy~

Why I Hate Hypocrisy
"1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, 2 saying:... but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. 4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders...

~Prayer Is A Lifestyle~

Prayer Is A Lifestyle
"Prayer is not so much what we ask as what we are. God responds to our prayers based on our lives. In John 15:7, Jesus says, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you." Prayer is a lifestyle. It is spending time with God and spending time in the Word of God. Redemption has two sides... the legal side...

~Not I But Christ~

I found this wonderful tract online! It is such a good reminder to me and I hope to others also that we are still in that process of dying to self and I am no where close to being dead yet. :)
Blessings to you all, Chanin

Lord, bend that proud and stiffnecked "I,"
Help me to bow the neck and die,
Beholding Him on Calvary,
Who bowed His Head for me.
The following are some of the features and manifestations of...
