“He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.” Matthew 10:38-39
Our salvation costs us nothing. Jesus already paid the price; however, our commitment to Him does require a sacrifice. With our salvation, we are not promised a life of prosperity and only...

Urgent prayer request

Posted Apr 16th 2009, 02:46 by Nicodemus Project on Prayer

Please be in prayer for Manuel and Siomara. He was called in this week and told that the bank for which he works was closing a whole division in the commerce department of over 200 people. This was the section he was responsible for to provide training; therefore, he was out of a job. His boss gave him the highest marks and went to bat for him with human resources, but it remains to be seen if they...

The David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted…. The Lord does not deliver by sword nor by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:45, 47
In an improbable battle,...

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:13-14
What insecure times we live in! Every day there is news of more job losses, corruption, violence. In late January, two men were gunned down just down the block from the Hardemans’ house. One...

Prayer needs from Nicodemus Project

Posted Feb 10th 2009, 01:52 by Nicodemus Project on Prayer

Last night about 10, Manuel’s mom Aura was taken to the hospital because of severe abdominal pains. Manuel spent the night with her there as the doctors tried to determine what to do. It appears that she has a bowel obstruction and they are preparing to operate this morning. Manuel and Siomara are exhausted as they hardly got any sleep last night. Mynor will be staying at the hospital this morning while Manuel tries to rest...

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 14:6
This year I’m using a little small devotional book by Anne Graham Lotz called The Joy of My Heart. Boy, does she know how to put a powerful message in a few short words! One day last month, she concluded by saying, “All religions are man’s rebellious, prideful...

“When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, ‘I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.’” Mathew 8:10
Wouldn’t you love to astonish Jesus with your faith? I know I would. Jesus is talking about a Roman centurion who didn’t demand Jesus’ physical presence, but just asked by faith for His word to heal his servant. May God help...

“Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” Luke 1:45
That verse really smacked me in the face several years ago when a promise the Lord had made to me finally seemed to be beginning to be fulfilled. That was the moment I began doubting after praying constantly and waiting many long months. Sometimes we aren’t sure what the Lord wants of us, but other...

“I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the Kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Mathew 8:11-12
Last month during the three weeks we were in the USA, George and I worshiped in five different churches....

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
Do you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders sometimes and get so busy working trying to get everything done that you forget to take time to be with the Lord? Martha was anxious...

“As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’ When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’
‘Yes, Lord,’ they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your faith will it be done to you.’” Mateo 9:27-29
What would have happened if the blind...

Praise

Posted Aug 3rd 2008, 10:14 by Nicodemus Project on Prayer

We couldn’t wait until next month to share this praise with you. For several months, since he came to the Crown Bible study back in the winter, you have been praying with us for Humberto’s salvation. (See this month’s prayer request for August 26.) At church this morning Manuel could hardly talk because of a bad cold. Knowing that his voice might not hold out to preach, he had prepared a “Plan B”. After giving...

“My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42:5-6
It is true that few among the Nicodemus people in Guatemala could say that they have not heard of God and Jesus. There is some head knowledge, religious training. Unfortunately, it is also true that few have had that personal encounter with Him. Pray with us...

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
I used to wonder why the Lord told all the bad stuff about the biblical heroes. The older I get the more thankful I am to know that they weren’t perfect either, but God could still use them. There are times when my heart isn’t very pure as I battle frustrations, disappointments, oh, yes, and traffic. ...

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.” Psalm 130:5-7
Seems I forgot to put in the Scripture passage last month; so you had to...
