Today's Sites-Special Post-Larry Norman goes home to the Father

Posted Feb 27th 2008, 12:20 by Karen's Adventures and Web Discoveries on Teaching/Education

It was 1969. My husband and I were working and studying at the Light and Power House with Hal Lindsay in Los Angeles for the summer. We had heard about a young man who had just hit it big in music and had become a Christian. He had come that night to sing for us at the Light and Power House. He had long, Norwegian blonde hair and a powerful voice. And he sang songs that...

Many of the websites that I have promoted since 2001 are still online and have updated. One of the first that I featured was the Christian History Institute. I feel history is very important to the survival of our nation and the world. If we forget what God has done, and forget the mistakes that have been made around the world we may repeat them to our horror. I'll never forget the Russian lady who spoke to my daughter's...

When I was 15 my world began to fall apart. My parents were having serious marital problems and my mother had a nervous breakdown and was committed to a mental hospital for several months. I began to think, "Who am I? What am I here for?" and other questions. Fortunately, God provided me with friends who believed in Jesus and they helped me find the answers I needed.
The local library carried books by Pat Boone, Catherine...

WAR or WORSHIP? Or both?
War
June the 7th is the 40th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. Israel gained access to "Ha Kotel" , what Christians call the "Wailing Wall", on that day. The city was reunited during the Six Day War which ended on June 10,1967.
War is rumored for the summer in Israel. Rockets have already killed two people and caused a town to be evacuated. My next door neighbors were in Haifa...

This newsletter began in 2001 before 9/11. I am beginning it again after a few years off. As I research I find that some of the sites I used are needed now after the Virginia Tech losses which became ours, vividly, through the medium of television. I realized from the response of a friend that those who have suffered losses personally lately, were "undone" by the Virginia Tech deaths. So think of those who are young...

About this time last year, I sent a newsletter. It was a crazy year and this year has been eventful, too. My husband and I decided to do a business together helping adults and children with health and wellness products and found that we needed new skills or our marriage was going to suffer. So we went to a counselor who said we were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which was no surprise to us since we both have...

Happy Easter!
I was searching for a particular picture I had seen years ago. In my mind I could see the Lamb with blood coming out of it's chest. It was standing with it's face toward me, but I could also see it's side. When I found the picture on a book cover, I realized that I could not see that detail on the book. I was hunting it for my pen pal in Israel to give to her dying...

Since August the 15th I have worked part-time at a new job, moved (still unpacking), and helped with a dinner for international women with the local Aglow group.
My computer is up and running, minus the internet, so this newsletter has been an adventure, too.
AUTISM/HEALTH
In my new job I have met several believers who have children who are autistic. Here's a site that offers hope for these children.

Hi, again!
Our family has been like many families in our country. We have moved many times. As a child I lived in Nashville, Tennessee and in two small towns in Mississippi (that's why I can spell it), with my husband and family I have lived in several medium sized towns, and several metro areas of three large cities. With every move we say we are not going to collect anything else, but when the...

Jesus told his followers that the harvest is abundant, but there are only a few workers. He told them to ask the boss(Lord) of the harvest for more people to gather the harvest!(God's harvest) (Karen's paraphrase)
The first site is unusual. Take time to see how these "workers" are helping people understand about Jesus. If you have time, watch a video. (About 25 or 30 minutes.) It's worth the time. You may find out the "lost" are...

Back in the seventies when the abortion bill was passed my husband and I were busy working and learning in our new married life. I was teaching school and putting my husband through seminary and he was busy learning and working part time. My brother was in Vietnam. My husband's brother and his wife and our nephews were at seminary with us. Both sets of parents were out of state. Our son was also born in the early 70's. We...

As darkness falls in our city, I see fireflies or "lightning" bugs flying around. I have not seen them for many years.(I live in the city.) I guess that is why I was surprised to see them this year. When we were children in Mississippi, my brother and I took jars with holes punched in the top with an ice pick and captured the yellow glowing bugs. We put grass in the jars for food, but the tiny bugs never...
