Beloved,

In 2 Peter chapter 3, Peter is talking about “the day of the Lord.” He says that we should be “looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God.” (v.12).To “hasten” is to hurry or accelerate or quicken. In other words we can speed up the day when unrepentant creation is “destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” (v.10). This will happen in response to our looking for His appearing in our hearts, and progressively becoming  the dwelling for the promise of “new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” (v.13). So let us set our sights on “holy conduct and godliness” (v.11) with renewed anticipation of His Coming.

HIS COMING

Over the horizon
Coming
Though now
We stand in dark

Soon light
Will fill our eye
Behold
The eastern sky

Oh my!
Beyond thought
Or imagination
Glory

Rising high
Shining so bright
Extreme delight
Timing just right

Darkness all around
Man’s evil found
Hiding in corners
Exposed

For all to know
Who evil is
What evil does
Why evil is judged

No crouching now
Out in the open
Dark intent spoken
In one last onslaught

To take control
One final blow
Before it’s over
Judgment’s hammer

Right arm rising
The gavel falling
Justice ruling
Righteousness overcoming

Darkness succumbing
Passing away
With the New Day
The final say

The Word
Heard
In all creation
Jubilation

Dancing
Singing
Laughter
Hereafter

Darkness gone
Truth our song
Lies not remembered
Our minds clear

Heaven on earth
God’s will birthed
Christ first and last
No dark past

Only Son-light
No more night
Celebration’s delight
Soon to be

Keep watching
Stare at the horizon
You can hasten
Glory’s dominion

Eradicating man’s opinion
Removing pretended authority
Finishing the story
Responding to our desire

To hearts on fire
Watching
Waiting
For His coming
