What level of intimacy should our relationship with God have?

God’s Gifts of Freedom, Part 1 of 2

In Revelation, Jesus - speaking to the church of the time - says the following:

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)

Remember, Jesus is speaking to Christians who have already invited Him into their hearts.  Yet this verse indicates He not only stands at the Christians’ door knocking, but also speaking and waiting of a response to take the relationship to a higher level. Eating with someone is a way to establish a more intimate relationship with them – lovers do it – business people do it. So you see Jesus stands ready and wanting of a more intimate relationship with us even after we receive Him as our savior.

Paul describes the relationship as a process, a process of working out your salvation.  In Philippians 2:12, Paul tells Christians who have already received Christ as their savior “ to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” What does this mean?  It means developing that more intimate relationship. Indeed it’s living through this intimate relationship with God that allows us a free and abundant life in this world. Many Christians have God residing with them but are not seeking a more intimate relationship with Him in the way God desires. Yes they are going to heaven, but they will not experience the kind of heaven on earth they can in this life because they have not fully worked out their salvation here on earth.

By developing this intimacy, we can fulfill our destiny and fully use all the other gifts God offers, gaining Freedoms spiritual and physical. Remember: it isn’t just the prison system that keeps people jailed.  What about people serving a sentence of loneliness, guilt, sorrow, hopelessness, fear, despair, sickness, disease, anger, confusion, addiction, depression, lack of resources or lack of purpose and meaning in life just to name a few?  Consider your own life and begin to let His freedom in.

We are offering these books as a “Summer Discipleship Special” so you can obtain greater intimacy with God as well as disciple others to do the same using this God inspired book series.
