Series: A Walk Through Matthew  (Mathew 7)
"Jesus The Teacher" - Pt 1
Pastor Wayne Clabaugh

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7
Scripture Text:"
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." Matthew 7:29 (KJV)

When is a teacher a teacher? A teacher is one who is not a dissembler (to give a false or misleading appearance to; conceal the truth or real nature of), a teacher is someone who convinces by the experience of first-hand knowledge.

What if the "literal and HOLY God" would step out of the Heaven's each day and teach you from the first hand knowledge of the faults of others? I mean, He is the one we pray to on a daily basis (hopefully), telling Him of our sin and sorrow for committing it. So, what if He would take the thousands of years of His experience as God and step out of the clouds and teach us how to live - would it make a difference?

Well first of all, that's just what He did in Jesus. Did it make a difference? To some... BUT WHY NOT TO EVERYONE? Because He is a "PERSONAL GOD". He "could" force you to love for Him or die the moment you stepped out of line... but He wanted you to love Him and live for Him because you want to - and He wanted so much for you to know that...  He wrote it in the Blood of His Only Begotten Son saying,

"Whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

In the days of Jesus and before, when man taught about God or whatever Eastern religion they expounded upon, they taught what "other men" had believed or said. When Jesus came, He, being God, stepped out of the clouds of Heaven and spoke as a "God-man" who knew the temptations of man and the follies of man. He truly was a LIGHT in a darkened world!

He spoke of Grace and Mercy, but He also spoke of the "acute awareness" of consequence. Scientists and mathematicians have been working off of that principle for years - which is, "If you apply a particular dynamic, then the following response will occur".

This didn't take away from the Blood or the Promise of the saving Power of His Name, it was the explanation of why He came and He had a very short time to teach us not just how to live, but how to love and how to walk!

This chapter (Matthew 7), begins the Teachings of Jesus in such a way that He makes tangible, down-to-earth applications on how man gets past the darkness of inbred sin to the simple precept of John 8:12 where Jesus said,

"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Get ready... tomorrow we will begin to outline some simple truths about Jesus the Teacher, and why He came. It will change your Life!

Let's pray.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Mat 6: 9-13 (KJV)
